HILLSBORO, WI – Voters served by the School District of Hillsboro approved two referendum questions on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The “unofficial results” for the District’s operating question were 857 YES to 507 NO. The District asked the community to authorize exceeding revenue limits by $500,000 per year for the next four years to maintain district facilities and current programs, representing no tax increase over current level. The second question, which asked the community to authorize the District to invest up to $3,700,000 for facility improvements, received an 827 YES to 532 NO vote. The facilities question represents an annual tax increase of $67 per $100,000 of a home’s value for a period of 20 years.
District-wide facility improvements at the elementary and middle/high school buildings will include:
● Building infrastructure and capital maintenance updates;
● Replacements and repairs;
● Remodeling for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance;
● Site improvements; and
● Acquisition of furnishings, fixtures and equipment.

Design of the approved referendum work will begin immediately. Preliminary plans for the project call for construction to be complete by September 2019 ahead of the 2019-20 school year. The District and its design and construction partners plan to begin work in May 2019, which will allow the team to minimize disruption to students’ learning and maximize the safety of students and staff.
