Substitute Opportunities

Teachers, drivers, custodians and paraprofessionals

  • The School District of Hillsboro is seeking qualified candidates for substitute teaching positions at all grade levels 4K through 12. Candidates must hold or be eligible for a valid teaching or substitute teaching license through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. A DPI substitute license is required to substitute teach in the district. If your degree is not in teaching, you will need to go to the DPI website to apply for substitute license.

  • The School District of Hillsboro is taking applications for substitute paraprofessionals. The majority of the subbing opportunities are in Special Education , but there may be some Regular Education subbing opportunities as well. Here are some of the duties a Special Education Substitute Paraprofessional is responsible for:

    • Under the supervision of the special education teacher, works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.

    • Establishes and maintains a supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense, emotional involvement.

    • Reads to, listens to, supervises, and participates with the student(s) during the school day. Provides safety and security for all students in and out of the classroom.

    • Reinforces Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals for each student under the direction of the teacher. Mentors appropriate behavior and social skills with peers, classmates, and administrators through example, job training, and social stories. 

    • Constantly surveys the classroom to monitor students’ behaviors, moving to assist those who need help.

    • Reviews students’ schedules each day to determine their events for that day

  • Any person employed by a Wisconsin public school as a special education program aide must hold a special education program aide license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) or another valid and current DPI license or permit. A valid DPI license or permit is acceptable for state categorical aide reimbursement for districts. Special education program aide licenses are valid for five years.
    DPI does not license regular education classroom aides or paraprofessionals.
    This application is for educators who are applying for a new special education program aide license.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Applications must be requested by employing school district administrator.

Now Hiring Substitute School Bus Drivers

No experience necessary! We train!

Our Bus Drivers are an integral part of the Hillsboro Schools. They are committed to safety, customer service and have genuine, caring attitudes for children. As a Bus Driver, your major responsibilities will be to:

  • Safely transport passengers

  • Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections

  • Assist students in the loading and unloading process

Requirements of a School Bus Driver:

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • CDL (Willing to train qualified applicants)

  • At least 21 years old

  • Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years

  • Be subject to a drug screen & physical

The district is looking for substitute custodians to perform routine custodial maintenance duties, including but not limited to: dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, emptying trash receptacles, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms.
