What's New at HHS?

Hillsboro High School has made some progressive changes for the betterment of the    student body this year. One of the major changes implemented into the high school was the creation of an Honors Study Hall. In this study hall, students will be able to relax in the comfortable seating of the library and enjoy the use of their cell phones. The standards to qualify for this luxury varies from grade to grade. The upperclassmen must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Sophomores need a 3.25 GPA, and the freshmen a 3.5 GPA. Along with these academic requirements, students must maintain positive behavior and attendance.

Another addition to the high school schedule is the insertion of seven-minute passing periods between first hour and tiger time as well as sixth and seventh hours. The break between first hour and tiger time enables students to grab a second chance breakfast if they missed it in the morning.  The extra time from sixth to seventh hour gives a no-rush feeling to the final two classes of the day and allows students to use the     restroom or accomplish other tasks if necessary. All in all, the changes made this year have been successful, and it makes student life at Hillsboro High School that much better.
