Keystone Species

Mrs. Krajco's Tiger Time group read the novel Odder by Katherine Applegate and discovered that sea otters are keystone species in the coastline ecosystem.

Simply defined, keystone species are species that have a very substantial effect on their environment and maintain biodiversity in the ecological community in which they live.

Upon completion of the novel, Mrs. Krajco's students researched and presented on other keystone species and how they keep our world's ecosystems in balance.
