Last Friday, Hillsboro Middle/High School students dedicated their morning to community service, tackling various projects and providing much-needed assistance to local families and businesses.
These efforts underscore our district's commitment to civic engagement and fostering a sense of responsibility among our students.
Hillsboro Community Cleanup Day has been an annual event for the past six years, with growing opportunities for students to make a real impact in the community. This year, students were involved in a wide range of activities, including landscaping at the public library, fixing bikes for the school bike shop, cleaning up local parks and farms, assisting with neighborhood yard work, roadside cleanup, planting flowers on campus, clearing brush, organizing the drama department closet, removing garbage from parks, and performing various odd jobs around the school building such as washing walls, cleaning lockers, and washing windows.
The district hopes Community Cleanup Day reminds students of the importance of giving back, puts the Tiger Way (Respectful, Responsible, Safe) into action, while providing valuable support to families and strengthening the bonds within the community.
