Students in Mrs. Schmidt's Food Science and Intro to Agriculture classes have been writing a collection of essays exploring food waste in the United States, where an estimated 30-40% of the food supply is discarded.
Seventh-grade student Eliza Winchel designed the cover of the collection, Destined for Trash, which explores the implications of food waste, including the loss of resources, environmental and socio-economic impacts, while offering solutions to consumers for reducing our own food waste footprint.
