Students in Mrs. Schmidt's Introduction to Agriculture class had a surprise visitor yesterday - Sauce, the baby emu.
Sauce belongs to the family of Nicholas Kaeo, a student in Mrs. Schmidt's Intro to Ag class, and is the first baby born to their flock from an incubator.
Students had the opportunity to interact with six-day old Sauce and see another emu egg that has not yet hatched.
This visit is the latest hands-on opportunity for students to explore various aspects of the agricultural industry, including animal husbandry, plant and soil science, sustainability, agriscience (research project), and agribusiness.
