Two children smile, holding hands with balloons. Text says "summer food, summer fun"

Hillsboro's Summer Food Service program provides free breakfast and lunch opportunities for every child 18 and under during June and August summer school sessions.

In June, on-site meals were served M-Th at the elementary in conjunction with summer school programming. The food service department served an astonishing 1274 in-house meals during the first session.

The district introduced an additional resource for families this summer, the Meals-to-Go program, which offers pre-made meals children can enjoy over the weekend. Meals were requested via an online form or by contacting Yanula Nusse in the district office. June's Meals-to-Go provided 510 pre-made meals to families. The district is delighted to offer ongoing nutritional support for children over the summer, and looks forward to session II of our food service program, August 4-6, 11-13, 18-20.
