The next school board superstar we'd like to feature for School Board Appreciation Week is Lindsay OHair! Lindsay and her husband, John, came to Hillsboro in 2012 with their five children to be closer to family and get out of the city and it was one of the BEST decisions they ever made! Lindsay works as a business analyst, however, she enjoys reading, playing piano and spending time with her children whenever she has free time. When asked about her time on the school board, this is what she had to say: "I have been on the Hillsboro School Board for one and a half years. I really enjoy collaborating with the team to set strategic goals so that we can have a sustainable school where students come first. I chose to serve as a board member because I wanted to be a part of making sure ALL our kids have a positive environment where they can grow and learn. With such great teachers and staff, who bring their best every day, you can really see the positive effect it's having on the kids and the community. It's so exciting!" Thank you for all your hard work, Lindsay! We are so grateful to have you serve as one of our amazing board members! #HSDGoTigers #TigerProud #CelebrateSchoolBoards

School Board Appreciation Week continues today and we will be featuring the amazing Jo Peterson! Jo Peterson and her husband, Steve Peterson, have four children and three grandchildren. The three older children have graduated from Hillsboro Schools and their youngest daughter just entered second grade. Jo graduated with her Master Degree in Business and is currently working in Mauston at Mile Bluff Medical Center as a Database Support Specialist. When asked about her time as a school board member, this is what she had to say: "I have been on the Hillsboro school board for about two months. It is early for me, but I enjoy seeing the other board members and school administrations drive to make sure the schools are doing the best for the students. I chose to serve as a member because I feel being a parent to both graduates and a current student gives me a perspective that can positively impact the board. I see so many exciting things going on in our District everyday! The early childhood and 4k rooms look AMAZING! The Plus One program continues to be a great program (and I know our 2nd grader loves it!). We follow the Tiger Way not only at school but at home as well. It is a big deal to earn those Tiger Paws!" Thank you so much for all the positive energy you bring to our school board, Jo! We are very lucky to have you! #HSDGoTigers #TigerProud #CelebrateSchoolBoards

We are going to kick School Board Appreciation Week off with a bang by featuring some of our amazing school board members! Today we will be featuring Jenny Hynek! Jenny is a native of Reedsburg, but has happily lived in Hillsboro for nearly 16 years. She is married to Steve Hynek and they are the parents of three sons. Thomas and Jack are freshman and Samuel is in 6th grade. She has a BA from Luther College and an MA in Education from Viterbo University. This year marks her 25th year as a public school educator in the School District of Reedsburg! When asked about her time as a Hillsboro school board member, this is what she had to say: "I am in my third term (9 years) on the Hillsboro school board. I enjoy celebrating successes in our school district as well as enjoy the challenge of problem solving and the opportunity to provide excellent educational experiences for our students. I see serving on the board as a natural extension of my passion for public education. All kids are deserving of the very best strategies, resources, and teachers possible. The most exciting thing happening in HSD these days and everyday is the amazing work of our teachers and their students. There is incredible learning and achievement happening in Hillsboro schools. Go Tigers!" Thank you so much for everything you do Jenny. You're truly a blessing! #HSDGoTigers #TigerProud

Mrs. Olson's US History 9 classes attempted their first Breakout Box of the year titled Historical Mastermind! Students had to work in groups to save the world by solving several puzzles to open a variety of locks. A few groups successfully "saved the world" when they opened the last box that contained the key, stopping the machine from ending the world! #HSDGoTigers #Creativity
